The program combines lectures, hands-on drone flying experiences (no prior experience necessary), and discussions to offer a deep dive into UAV technology.

The hands-on part of the course involves an introduction to the rules and safety of flying drones followed by an opportunity to pilot various consumer and industrial drones.

The course also includes training materials enabling the students to pass the two basic drone licenses A1/A3 & A2 to be independent drone pilots.

During the three days you will have time to network and connect with your fellow participants and share drone experiences and opportunities.

Kenneth Richard Geipel, Co-founder and CEO of Robotto: A pioneer in the field, Kenneth will delve into how Robotto utilizes drones for critical operations such as wildfire response, tracking endangered animals, search and rescue missions, and monitoring of infrastructures like power plants, harbors, and railways. This session will provide an inside perspective on the transformative role of drones in addressing contemporary business challenges.

Toke Kristian Suhr, Teknisk direktør, Droner.dk: Toke will provide an overview of the equipment, regulations, training and certification needed for consumer and industrial uses of drones. As a supplier of certification training and equipment, Toke has a broad base of experience in the private and professional use of drones.

Jessica Cauchard, Professor at TU Wien Informatics, Austria: Renowned for her work in human-drone interaction, Jessica will explore the behavioral aspects of human interaction with drones, offering insights into optimizing human-drone interactions.

Anke Brock, Associate Professor at the French Aviation School (ENAC): A leading academic in human-drone interaction, Anke will share her expertise on the evolving dynamics of human and drone collaboration, emphasizing the importance of user experience and interface design in critical operations.

Chandhawat Boonyard, PhD Student at the French Aviation School (ENAC): Chandhawat brings a wealth of experience in the unmanned aerial vehicle sector and comes to ENAC from Thailand where he designed and built drones for custom missions prior to starting his PhD research.

Anders Lyhne Christensen, Professor in the Drone research group at The Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller Institute, Southern Denmark University (SDU): As key figures at the drone research center at SDU, Anders and Ulrik have been at the forefront of numerous drone-related research projects. Their research group participated in the creation of the 5G-enabled drone traffic management system called U-Space, a unique research-approved flight area north of Odense that will become a model for the remaining air space in Denmark. Their session will provide a deep dive into the latest academic research, its implications for businesses, and a visionary look at the future of drones in society.

Coordinating lecturer:

Timothy Merritt, Associate Professor from Human-Centered Computing at the Dept. Of Computer Science, Aalborg University has been working with drones for the last 8 years in various contexts. His research with drones often involves many drones at once including direct interaction with fleets of small drones in a room to the critical missions of search and rescue and critical infrastructure security.
