Who reads and understands the “Terms and Conditions” before downloading a piece of software? Next to nobody. Also, many law firms spend up to 50 percent of their time reviewing contracts thereby incurring huge costs.

Researchers from the Department of Computer Science, Aalborg University, have launched an ambitious project to develop new AI methods to obtain - in an automated process - a deeper semantic understanding of complex legal documents, e.g., contracts.

The objective is to allow a machine to provide answers to questions like: Is there a legal consequence to this event? Have I signed any other contract with clauses conflicting with this one? Etc.
